A gypsy fire is on the hearth,
Sign of the carnival of mirth;
Through the dun fields and from the glade
Flash merry folk in masquerade,
For this is Hallowe’en!
It is Halloween! My Halloween is pretty much over – being old and having a working life still (for the moment) all the fun of Halloween had to be crammed into the weekend before hand.
This Merry weekend facilitated by my friends I have carved a pumpkin for the first time (I know it’s not the most fabulous pumpkin but it was my first and I can neither draw nor craft with my hands)
Also fun was had visiting the Blackpool Dungeons (even with the strong sense of deja vu after the York dungeons some years ago) and watching “Paranormal Entity” (the godawful b-movie copy of Paranormal Activity we picked up because we are stupid) along with “The Fourth Kind” (ok but storyline entirely unconvincing even if it is about alien abductions – when they claim footage is true archive it annoys me) and Trollhunter (by far the best film of the bunch – very cleverly made).
I also lugged my enormous, heavy and hot costume to the other side of the country to partake of the festivities – I took my camera along to take some photos too! I should note that the costume, although heavy and hot in crowded bars were worth it because a; it got me a high five from all the barmen when I ordered white russians, and b; it did cause some scared passers by!
